Heading home

For some passengers, disembarkation does not end at an airport. You may live in Winter Park or Lake Nona and simply want to get home with a week of laundry, or you booked a hotel for the night after the cruise so that flying can wait until the next day. Either way, the destination is an Orlando address instead of a departures curb, and no flight time is squeezing the morning.

The drive back runs roughly the outbound estimate in reverse, about 54 miles between the port and downtown Orlando on public figures. What still sets the pace is the ship. The chauffeur is summoned to the pickup area only after your whole party has come ashore with every suitcase, and the half hour of free waiting at the port runs from the time confirmed in your booking.

The road inland

Back to the City Once the Ship Docks

Westbound, the trip retraces the embarkation-day drive. With no airline on the other end, the only clock that matters is the one your deck call sets.

The mileage is the published downtown figure turned around; your own address and the day's traffic will move it. Traffic never adds to the fare.

Disembarkation to doorstep

Gangway to Your Front Door

  1. Reserve before you board

Book the pickup together with the outbound leg, adding the ship, the return date, the terminal and the Orlando address you are heading to.

  2. Clear the building first

Customs, the luggage hall and the headcount all come before the call. Port security may keep vehicles from idling at the curb.

  3. Send the word

Phone or message when everyone has their bags. The chauffeur then moves up to the pickup area; half an hour of waiting costs nothing.

  4. Inland to your address

Straight to the house or hotel on the reservation, or via a grocery run first if you asked for the included stop.

Room for the Trip Home

Souvenirs take space too. Leave some slack in the luggage count for the return.

Why book the ride home

A Slower Morning With Nowhere to Rush

No flight to race

With an Orlando address as the end point, the morning moves at the ship's pace rather than an airline's.

Home or hotel

Your own house, a rental, or a hotel for one more night before flying out: any Orlando address works.

Fill an empty fridge

Ask for the included stop when booking, up to 30 minutes, and walk in the door with groceries. Purchases are yours to pay.

Settled in advance

The port requires commercial transport to be booked and paid ahead, so the fare is handled long before you disembark.

Traffic costs nothing extra

No surcharge is added for slow roads on the way back inland; the total you saw at booking stands.

Help at any hour

Assistance for booked trips runs around the clock, useful if the ship docks later than planned.

A Hotel Night Before the Flight

Splitting the journey home in two, with a night in Orlando and a flight the next day, takes the pressure off disembarkation morning. If your hotel is in the Disney, Universal or International Drive area, the operator's own estimate for that drive is 60 to 70 miles, from about 55 minutes behind the wheel. Elsewhere in the city, use the downtown figure as a rough guide. The airport run the next morning is its own booking: make it at least two hours before that pickup, and remember that a hotel pickup includes half an hour of waiting in case checkout is slow.

When Orlando Is Home

If you live in Dr. Phillips, Winter Park, Lake Nona, downtown or elsewhere in the city, the transfer spares a friend or relative the job of fetching you from the coast, and it spares you the job of collecting a car you left there for a week. Put your home address on the return leg, list every bag including anything bought on board, and say whether the youngest travelers need seats: a maximum of two car seats, plus a second pair as boosters, travel home with you at no cost. The chauffeur drops you at your door rather than at a curb somewhere nearby.

If the Cruise Changes

If the cruise line reshuffles your dates or ship, your Orlando ride is not dropped automatically, so it is up to you to tell the booking desk the moment you learn of a change. For cancellation timing, the outbound and return pickups of a round trip are counted one by one. Sedan and SUV rides refund in full when cancelled 24 hours or more before the confirmed pickup; for a Sprinter or another large-capacity vehicle, that line sits three days (72 hours) out. Amend the booking before that refund line passes and no admin fee applies, although a higher or lower fare for the new trip does.

Why private

Why Travelers Book a Private Ride to the Port

The cruise starts at the gangway. The 46 miles between a runway and that gangway are the part worth handing to someone else.

  • Permitted at the Port's Curb

Port Canaveral restricts terminal access to prearranged, permitted commercial transport. This service holds permits at the port, at MCO and at Orlando Sanford, so nothing gets negotiated at a gate.

  • Your Party, Your Vehicle

A shared shuttle waits for other flights and stops at other ships. A private transfer leaves when your group is ready and drives to one terminal: yours.

  • Room for Cruise Luggage

Formal nights and a week of swimwear add up. You choose the vehicle at booking against your headcount and suitcases — up to twelve travelers and twelve bags in the Sprinter.

  • Car Seats at No Charge

Up to two car seats and two boosters come free. Ask for them in the booking form.

  • The Total Before You Pay

The booking form shows an all-inclusive rate for your itinerary before you confirm — no meter running east of the airport.

  • A 30-Minute Stop Included

Forgot the swimsuits? Every transfer includes one stop of up to 30 minutes on the way, requested at booking.
